NEW BOOK OUT NOW

I have a new book out that I’d like you all to buy, firstly because my royalties will be donated to a community group here on the island - and you all know how important community is to me. The second reason is that it’s been swinging between 2nd and 5th place on Amazon’s Best Seller List in the Utilitarian Philosophy category for a few weeks now, and I’d really like it to hit #1 - ego and all that.

Although it’s called On God, the Wider Self, and the Expanding Circle, it’s not about religion, but rather about living an ethical life without religion. It offers a grounded, practical exploration of how we might live more coherently in a world shaped by interconnection rather than domination. Drawing on the philosophical foundations of Spinoza, Arne Næss, and Peter Singer, it invites us to rethink who we are, how we relate to others, and how our everyday choices ripple outward through society, ecosystems, and future generations.

Rather than relying on moral commands, spiritual promises, or dogma, it builds an ethical framework from understanding in itself. It examines pantheism as a rational view of reality, cultivates self-awareness as the basis for intentional living, and translates both into clear principles for ethical consumption, compassion, and responsibility toward all beings.

By no means a book of slogans or guilt, but rather a guide to coherence. It speaks to ordinary life in an extraordinary system, showing how clarity, restraint, and empathy can be practised without perfection or posturing
